HOMEWORK

I have had loads of parents asking me if there is homework.
Every week there is spelling.
Children should be reading for 15 minutes a night and recording it.
And there are maths sheets in the class. If you are wondering what to do with your kids at home check out the free resources on teachers pay teachers. Remember: parents are the most valuable teachers.

Brodens take on The three little billy goats

W.A.L.T: rewrite a traditional tale with links to kiwiana using descriptive language.

The three little sheep

One sunny day there were three little sheep they had no grass they were so hungry.Just then they saw heaps of grass on the other side of a bridge. So they jumped over the fence.

Then they thought the littlest sheep had to go first to see if it was safe. But as soon as he got on the bridge a dog as black as the road whispered from under the bridge “who’s trotting over my bridge?” “It’s just me” cried the little sheep. The dog growled “I’m going to gobble you up.” The little sheep cried “wait for my brother he has heaps of meat on him.” “Ok” growled the dog “hurry or I will eat you.”
The medium sheep trots onto the bridge. The dog climbs up on to the bridge and licks his lips saying “I’m going to gobble you up” the medium sheep cries “wait for my big brother.” “Ok” growled the dog “hurry or I will eat you”.
The big sheep trots onto the bridge. The dog climbs up onto the bridge and growled “I’m going to gobble you up.” “no you’re not” yelled the big sheep as he rammed the dog off the bridge and quickly trotted into the green grass.

And they never saw that bad dog again until… but that’s another story

THE END!!

Kiwi and Tui

Once upon a time there were two chicks one was a kiwi one was a tui but you can call him tui tit. They had two parents one was drunk the other one was very mean. However since they have been living in the Rotorua Redwoods there has been something else has been living there too. It eats both Kiwis and tuis  it is black, it is sleek it is blind, but can hear very well. It’s the one and only Ritchie Mc Claw! But lets leave that stupid cat alone so he doesn’t eat us. Anyway Kiwi and tui tit were poor the drunk fantail had a job but she only got a $1.But there was one day that was going to change tui and Kiwis life . . . .

One day  the drunk fantail wanted to get rid of  them so she came up with a silly plan that could kill them. The  next day the whole family went for a hungi. Fantail made sure the chicks did not take anything but their super smart brains and their cute fluffy feathers. They ate so much they were stuffed and Kiwi fell asleep soon tui went to sleep too. When they woke up it was dark. “Do you think we should go back to the tree?” Asked Kiwi “Ae” said tui tit. They moved through the woods suddenly there was a bright light it lit up Kiwi and tui tits path. “Its a house chirped tui Ill knock because Kiwi you are only five and I am six.” Then the door opened both of them drew back at once they knew who that was Ritchie Mc Claw. Ritchie hearded them into his house made out of worms.
“Now” he said  with a grin and his ferocious fangs showed. “Now he said ill eat one of you if that ones good ill eat the other one too!” He fiddled around with most of his stuff “now” he said with a huff “now ill show you some of my stuff” he pulled out a bird cage painted bright blue. “Oh” whispered Kiwi “we are in a stew.” Before he knew it Ritchie swept up the trembling tui in his ugly claws. “Put him down! Shrieked Kiwi but Ritchie only said “shut up you silly double faced bird. I ll eat this tui no matter what.” Then he said to tui “once ive fattened you up ill have a roast then ill eat you on toast.” He turned to Kiwi “ill make you work with all of your might  I think you are silly you cat you gave me a fright” chirped Kiwi. “Now” said Ritchie “cook that dreaded tui some worms and make sure they don’t have any germs.” Kiwi looked at Ritchie the big fat beast she thought hes as high as mt cook look at him hes such a sook. But Kiwi did the work and she told tui only eat one of the worms that way you will still be thin. “Please don’t hum for heavensake don’t do it to this dim witted drum. I think I’d like to smack this cat on the bum please don’t do it” pleaded Kiwi. “Really please the cat will make mince meat of us both if you do. Here” chirped Kiwi handing tui an old chicken bone “the silly cat is blind you know”.
Then it went  black. “Wake up” meowed Ritchie said “cook me some Kiwi that I killed before.” “But it’s not hot enough wailed Kiwi take a look if you please.” Ritchie came over to kiwi as quick as lightning  Kiwi pushed him head first into  the pot and the evil cat died and Kiwi let tui out and away they went. The end.

Hollys twist on little red riding hood

W.A.L.T: rewrite a traditional tale with a kiwi twist using descriptive language.

Little Whero Riding Hood and the Taniwha

This story is about Little Whero Riding Hood, her granny, a tuatara plus a scary taniwha.

Once upon a time there lived  Little Whero Riding Hood and her mother. One day her mother baked kiwi shaped muffins to give to Little Whero’s grandmother, she was really ill. Little Whero was really excited because she never had gone to her granny’s house.

When she was on her way she saw a TANIWHA! Little Whero ran and ran she didn’t stop till she reached her grandmother’s house, her nanny was not here. She looked everywhere but she did not find her. She was scared really scared, ‘Nanny, ’she called, ‘where are you?’

She was so scared that she staggered into the living room. In the living room on the couch there was a blanket and under the blanket was her granny. She was so excited that she threw the baskets with kiwi shaped muffins and all of them fell out. Poor Little Whero she didn’t know that under the blanket was the taniwha! Then suddenly the taniwha popped up and ate Little Whero. While the taniwha was enjoying his supper Little Whero’s grandma was picking flowers.

While she was on her way home she saw a tuatara the tuatara told granny that the taniwha had eaten little Whero . When  grandma heard this she nearly cried. She loved Little Whero and was heart broken. She cried out to the Tuatara and   replied, “Oohh   Tuatara,” she said, “Can you think of an way I can help her ?” “Well”, the Tuatara said with a low voice, “I can try and do that mate, but it might be hard , I need help,” “Oohh,” whisperd grandma because her throat is sore , “ I could call all the animals in the forest to help you. ”Grandma replied , but she was crying secretly and the Tuatara had heard her and he said  “ she’ll be right , calm down ,”So  grandma did . Back at the house the taniwha was watching TV after the lovely meal he didn’t know that the tuatara the forest animals and grandma.

Little Whero was still inside of the taniwha’s tummy she shouted “You old hag let me outa here or I’ll smack your head!” The taniwha just laughed but Little Whero crawled and crawled  until she got up to where the taniwha’s liver was keept and hit it , the taniwha cried out “hey, bro stop it hurts .” But Little Whero didn’t she just wouldn’t . The Taniwha cried out again “stop it , it hurts , ouch , no not that bit a aaaaaaa !” While Little Whero was hurting the taniwha the tuatara, granny and the forest animals came and hit the taniwha and he was dead. They cut open the dead tummy and saved Little whero and lived happily ever after.
