Huka Falls Hike

At this stage we only have transport for 7 children. If we don't have any more on Monday the hike will be cancelled. I understand it is a busy time of year, so we will see how we go but if we don't have enough helpers we will cancel the trip.

It is Summer... (Poetry)

We have been writing amazing poetry in Room 15... here are some of our pieces:

It is Summer.

I can see people splashing around in the sea, people eating ice cream and sun bathing.

I can hear people splashing the salt water, people slurping on sunblock and waves crashing on the beach.

I can smell BBQs burning, sausages, meat patties and kebabs .

I can taste ice cream, sand in my sandwiches and salt water in my mouth.

I can feel ice cream dripping down my chin, waves crashing on my legs and crabs nipping my toes.

It is Summer.

By Jacob Candy

It is Summer.

I can see people slurping ice cream, getting sun burnt and sand stuck to their skin.

I can hear kids laughing and giggling, BBQs sizzling and people flopping their jandles. Flip flop.

I can smell clipped lawns, fish and chips, gum trees and meat patties.

I can taste salt water slamming in my mouth, sand in my burger and bacon crunching in my mouth.

I can feel sticky salty sand, tar burning my feet, sunburn stinging, heat from the sun and baby waves crashing on my legs.

It is Summer.

It is Summer.

I can see people getting ice creams, people fishing in the lake and the sun blazing.

I can hear the splashing of waves, sausages sizzling on the BBQ and people slopping on sunblock.

I can smell sweet, sweet flowers, fish ‘n’ chips and burgers being cooked and pop-corn at the fair.

I can taste sea water in my mouth, sausages and sand in my sandwiches.

I can feel bees stinging my fingers, hot tar on my feet and mosquito bites itching.

It is Summer.

By Max.

It is Summer.

I see boats zooming and people biscuiting as fast as lightning bolts.

I smell sausages, meat patties and fish ‘n’ chips.

I can hear plunging waves and sunblock stinging people’s eyes.

I can taste chicken crunching in my mouth.

It is Summer.

By Ben.

It is Summer.

I see people slapping on sun block, heatwaves burning my skin and life guards guarding the beach.

I can hear people yelling at each other, speed boats roaring and people laughing with each other.

I can smell sausages on the BBQ, hot tar on the road and silage in the paddocks.

I taste flavoured milk, pavlova and yoghurt.

I feel jandals on my feet, dust in my eyes and sun burn stinging.

It is Summer.

By Tariq.

 It is Summer.

I can see people going to the beach, bees pollinating plants and the bright glowing sun.

I can hear jandals flopping, feet brushing through the sand and bees buzzing.

I can smell fish guts, lawn clippings and the perfume of flowers.

I can taste sunscreen in my mouth, salty sea water and the coldness of ice cream.

I can feel sharp thistles in my feet, sand around me as I am being buried and bees stinging me.

It is Summer.

By Meile-Rose.

It is Summer.

I can see people going to the beach and bonfires everywhere. I can see tents and packed cars.

I can hear kids laughing, birds singing, sausages sizzling and bees buzzing.

I can smell flowers blooming, fish and chips frying and candy floss and pop-corn at the fair.

I can taste ice cream, fish and chips and tomato sauce and salt water.

I can feel prickles, icky salt water and ice cream melting down my arm.

It is Summer.

 It is Summer.

I can see people getting thrown off donuts and skiing in the water, people getting ice creams that stick to their hands and lawn mowers cutting grass.

I can hear birds hooting away in trees, bees buzzing around the hives and waves crashing upon the beach.

I can smell grass clippings, fish getting sizzled on the BBQ and pine needles.

I can taste salt water splashing against the boat, sand in my sandwiches and ice cream melting in my mouth.

I can feel sticky salt water sticking to me, sun burn on my back and sand on my feet.

It is Summer.

It is Summer.

I can see bees in trees buzzing and pollinating, I can see togs and ice cream dripping everywhere. I can see you and me making sand castles.

I can hear phones ringing, dogs barking and people slurping up cold drinks.

I can smell the swishing air in my hair, eggs and spaghetti burning hot and chocolate dripping down my chin.

I can taste ice cream, bacon and egg pie and sausages sizzling in oil.

I can feel rough prickles, sticky wet sand and the burning hot road on my feet.

It is Summer.

Change in state...Science experiments

We have been looking at how change occurs when we alter the variables...
We have done:
-flour + water (hot and cold)
-sugar + water (hot and cold)
-salt + water (hot and cold)
-milk + food colouring + dishwashing liquid
-baking soda + food colouring + vinegar
-oil + water

Here are some of our pics...

Fraction maths using playdough

Some of our maths groups today have been revisiting fractions using food as the context! Here is one of the examples (using playdough) that we created today:
Why not get your kids to share out food at home evenly?

Odd request...

Hello all I hope you are all enjoying a well deserved break!

A kind of funny request. I have seen an art idea online that I want to do with the kids... However, that means each child will need a toilet roll (without the paper). This means I will need 27! So please collect some for me! That would be amazing. :)

CoNOnut bars

On Thursday we made our allergy friendly Cononut bars!
Marty came up with a jingle:
C, O, N, O, N, U, T
It is very good for me,
B, A, R
You can eat it in the car,
It starts with C and ends with T,
It is very yummy!

This is our final product! Most of the kids thought it was SUPER YUM!
